This page gets your first file onto Tapedrive and back. Install the tools, set up a wallet, then run three commands.

Install Tapedrive

Install the early-access release:
This installs the complete toolchain. It does not automatically configure or start a local node or gateway; follow the installation guide for current platform support and next steps.

Use Tapenet today

Use Tapenet

Set up a wallet and get the funds needed to use Tapenet. This is the path that works today.

Run locally

Keep the storage on your computer or hardware you control. The local setup isn’t released yet. See what is coming and get early access.
The commands below run against Tapenet today. They will work the same way locally, with only the connection changing.

Using the CLI

Complete the wallet and funding setup first. With your connection and wallet ready, the shortest CLI session looks like this:
Terminal recording of tape create, tape write, and tape read

The same session, live: create a tape, write a file, read it back.

The CLI docs cover every command.

Using an SDK

Prefer code? The SDK quickstart walks the same flow (connect, reserve, write, read) in Rust. SDKs for more languages are in the works.

Using Git

The installed Git remote helper makes a tape a Git remote. Anyone with an address can clone it, and the tape owner can push:
See the Git integration guide for repository setup, permissions, and gateway reads.

Using S3 tooling

Already have S3 workflows? The S3-compatible gateway accepts standard S3 clients: the AWS CLI, rclone, S3 SDKs. Start with compatibility and configuration.
